Mosquito bitesProtect yourself from mosquito bites. * The following information is not intended as a substitute for professional medical advice. Contact your physician for more information. - Wear long-sleeved shirts and pants - On the exposed skin you can use a mosquito repellant containing DEET (diethyltoluamide) DEET makes you unattractive to the mosquito. Wash the repellent off as soon as you leave the mosquito-plagued area. Don't let children apply these type of products themselves as they could accidently get it in their mouth or eyes. Don't use this on children younger than six months. Always read the product label carefully! - On clothes you can use a Permethrin based product. These products work differently than the ones containing DEET. As mentioned, products containing Permethrin need to be applied on clothes (not the skin!). Permethrin kills the mosquitoes instead of just making you unattractive to these insects. |
